Works effectively on a collaborative team to develop, implement, and evaluate marketing plans for innovative products and services.
Manages a comprehensive pipeline of opportunities and activities through the company’s Customer Resource Management (CRM) tool. Daily data entry of contacts and emails will be expected through this online tool.
Coordinates with marketing, category and bid managers in corporate offices to determine and develop strategies for closing opportunities within the reps territory.
Physically attends trade shows and corporate sales meetings in order to receive and present product information as well as support team and corporate initiatives.
Virtually attends regular sales meetings and conference calls in support of team and corporate initiatives.
Manages bid process for territory.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience & Skills
Broad-based knowledge of state science standards, state assessment programs, and current best practices and instructional strategies to support customer districts.
Ability to create and provide solutions that support district needs for science furnishings, equipment, and technology.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Effective one-on-one and group presentation skills.
Customer focused with good interpersonal skills to be able to relate and influence a wide range of personalities.
Listen well and be a good problem solver with the ability to develop solutions that meet customer’s needs.
Must have the ability to be flexible and adaptable to change due to our dynamic marketplace.
Computer Knowledge (Microsoft Office).
Possess the following skills related to sales success:
Organized and independent self-starter
Set clear agendas for meetings to target customer needs and corporate priorities
Ability to analyze data
Sales Force.Com or other CRM tool to enter call notes and keep records up to date
College degree or equivalent/applicable experience; degree in Education/Curriculum a plus
Candidates with classroom instruction or school/district administration a plus
Candidates with a background in science a plus
Background in science preferred
Sales experience preferred
Environmental Working Conditions & Physical Effort
Typically works out of a home office environment with extensive regional travel to customer locations
and must use consistently communication tools like the telephone and email to contact their customers.
Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New
alternatives may be developed to resolve problems.
A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on routine basis.
Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing,
bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 10 lbs.
